Duke Basketball Recruiting Prospect Goes for 62 in Playoff Game

Potential Duke basketball target Isaiah Evans has a scary clutch mode.

With his extremely long limbs and elite scoring prowess, North Meck (N.C.) junior Isaiah Evans has long looked worthy of a Duke basketball offer. But the 6-foot-7, 170-pound small forward doesn't boast one yet, despite the fact he's visited the Blue Devils and drawn members of Jon Scheyer's staff to a few of his games this season.

For anyone who doubts that he belongs on Duke's 2024 wishlist, check out what he did in No. 3 seed North Meck's 105-92 double-overtime victory over No. 10 seed Chambers on Tuesday night in the 4A state quarterfinals.

Evans, who holds over two dozen offers and recently rose 42 spots to No. 29 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, set a school record with 62 points. That's not to mention his seven rebounds and three blocks.

Moreover, as is evident in the highlights below, several of Isaiah Evans' buckets were of the clutch variety.

He knocked down two shots from downtown in the final 30 seconds of regulation to force overtime. Minutes later, he beat the buzzer with a miraculous running 3-pointer, jumping off one foot in traffic and finding the bottom of the net to send the game into another extra session.

And in double overtime, the 17-year-old silky playmaker asserted his dominance, accounting for 10 of his squad's 19 points to ensure the win.

Isaiah Evans and North Meck now face No. 1 seed Myers Park in a semifinal bout on Saturday.

The 2024 Duke basketball offer sheet has yielded only one commit thus far in Paul VI Catholic (Va.) four-star small forward Darren Harris. Six undecided targets remain for now.
