Duke Basketball Recruit Reveals First Planned Visits, Not to Durham

Meleek Thomas is an admitted Duke basketball enthusiast, but it appears the Blue Devils have ground to make up in his recruitment.

Lincoln Park (Pa.) guard Meleek Thomas, who ranks No. 6 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite but is a candidate to reclassify to 2024, included his Duke basketball suitors among his 12 finalists in September. The others are Auburn, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Pitt, Tennessee, UConn, and Villanova.

And the 6-foot-4, 175-pound five-star, a Duke basketball offer holder since April, has said he grew up a fan of the Blue Devils.

However, according to a report from On3's Joe Tipton on Monday, Thomas is eyeing four visits in the coming months, and none of those trips are to Durham to check out the Blue Devils. Rather, he plans to visit Michigan, Auburn, Kentucky, and Alabama (note that the Crimson Tide were not in his top 12).

Of course, plans can change. So, it's still not out of the question that Thomas will make his way to Cameron Indoor Stadium for a Duke game at some point this season.

Nevertheless, at this juncture, one could deduce from Monday's news that the Blue Devils might not be among the frontrunners for the electrifying perimeter talent's services.

Meleek Thomas is one of nine (all composite five-star prospects) on the Duke basketball recruiters' 2025 wishlist.

That list includes three other guards ranking among the top 20 overall in the class: Brayden Burries, Jalen Haralson, and Cayden Boozer, the son of former Blue Devil great Carlos Boozer and twin brother of 2025's No. 2 talent, forward Cameron Boozer.
