Duke Basketball Signee Discusses Comparison to Blue Devil One-And-Done

Future Duke basketball weapon Isaiah Evans brings to mind Brandon Ingram, but Evans sees at least one slight difference.

In this story:

Similar to Brandon Ingram in 2015, Isaiah Evans is a slim, silky, long-limbed five-star prep from North Carolina who signed his national letter of intent with the Duke basketball program. And countless scouting reports on the North Mecklenburg High School wing compare him to that 2015-16 Blue Devil one-and-done.

So, how does Evans, who sits at No. 13 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, 10 spots lower than Ingram's final ranking as a recruit, feel about the comparison to the now-eighth-year NBA Blue Devil and potential second-time All-Star for the New Orleans Pelicans?

Well, the 6-foot-6, 170-pound potent bucket-getter responded to that question directly during his chat with League Ready at the recent City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

"I get the physique type," Evans explained. "I don't really think I have the game, per se. I think [Ingram] is a really nice mid-range shooter and driver. You know, he can shoot the three too.

"But I think my game is more predicated toward the three ball."

That three ball has been on display in his recent outings.

Isaiah Evans isn't the only five-star prospect set to arrive in Durham next year. He'll be alongside fellow early signees Cooper Flagg (No. 1 composite ranking), Kon Knueppel (No. 16), and Patrick Ngongba II (No. 22) — possibly one or two others — plus four-star Darren Harris. Duke's five-deep haul ranks No. 1 in the country, at least for now.
