Sure, Paul VI Catholic High School (Va.) senior Darren Harris, 57th on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, is the lowest-ranked member of the five-deep, top-ranked Duke basketball recruiting class. And the 6-foot-6, 195-pound wing is the only four-star in the bunch.

But he was the first in the cycle to commit to Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils. He announced his pledge over a year ago.

Moreover, remember that Harris is the one who won a Peach Jam title in July with his timely buckets throughout the championship game (28 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and 5-for-7 from deep).

Scheyer mentioned that display in the program's videos this week to officially announce the newly inked signees' addition to the Blue Devils.

"I'm very excited to welcome Darren Harris to 'The Brotherhood,'" Scheyer said. "Darren's been a guy that has been battle-tested for a long time. He's played for one of the premier high school programs in the country in Paul VI...He's also played for one of the premier AAU programs in Team Takeover.

"He's been a winner. His team won the Peach Jam championship this past summer. And he's a guy that steps up in the biggest moments. He had 28 points in the championship. He's a big-time shooter."

As with top-ranked 2024 Duke basketball signee Cooper Flagg, Darren Harris has followed the Blue Devils for years.

"He's been somebody that's really dreamed about coming to Duke for some time," Scheyer explained. "So, I know he'll be all-in when he gets here."

Darren Harris is one of two Paul VI Catholic talents heading to Duke next year, joining the most recent pledge, five-star center Patrick Ngongba II. It's the same prep powerhouse that produced recent Blue Devil one-and-done guard Trevor Keels and the current senior co-captain in Durham, guard Jeremy Roach.
