Cooper Flagg is the nation's top-ranked 2024 prospect despite reclassifying from 2025. So, on Thursday, it only made sense that the Duke basketball social media team posted a video of head coach Jon Scheyer's comments about the 6-foot-9, 200-pound five-star forward out of Montverde Academy (Fla.) before the other four 2024 Blue Devil signees.

"We're really excited to welcome Cooper Flagg to 'The Brotherhood,'" Scheyer said, as he can now discuss his pledges since they've each signed their national letter of intent. "It's been an honor for me to get to know Cooper for some time now as a person."

Scheyer extended an offer to Flagg, a lifelong Blue Devil fan, in May 2022. The Maine native announced his commitment in late October this year, a week after his official visit, which coincided with the program's Countdown to Craziness.

"It speaks for itself who he is as a player," Scheyer added in the video below (accompanied by a hype video showing Flagg wearing Duke basketball gear on his visit), "the competitor that he is, his incredible versatility: on the defensive end, his ability to block shots, to defend one through five, and on the offensive end, to really score, pass, handle.

"Whatever you need him to do, he can. He's a special player. He's a special talent."

But "the person that he is, the type of teammate he is" stands out most to Cooper Flagg's future coach in Durham.

"He played for his local team in AAU, Maine United, and brought them to the Peach Jam championship for 16U," Scheyer noted. "And he's going to bring an incredible competitiveness and toughness to our program that I can't wait to coach.

"And he's going to be such a special addition to our program."
