Duke Basketball: Stock-Soaring Recruit Locks in Upcoming Visit
Highland (Va.) junior Nate Ament expressed interest in hearing from the Duke basketball staff in May. But at the time, the 6-foot-8, 200-pound versatile wing, roughly four inches taller than last summer, didn't have a ranking by his name on most sites.
That's no longer the case, primarily due to his impressive performances in the spring and summer for Team Loaded NC U16 on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. He debuted at No. 28 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite in late June and has since risen to No. 26, on the cusp of a five-star rating.
And despite not yet boasting an offer from the Blue Devils, Ament has scheduled an unofficial visit to Duke beginning Sept. 16, according to a report from On3's Joe Tipton on Monday.

His offer sheet sits at roughly a dozen schools, including a few from the ACC in Wake Forest, Pitt, and possible home-state favorite Virginia.
Judging by Ament's recent ascension in the rankings and the following scouting report from On3's Jamie Shaw, chances are his list of big-name suitors will grow:
"[Ament] has a great frame, very projectable with great length. The unique aspect of his game is his ball skills. He is confident handling the ball as a primary initiator. He delivers good passes and can knock down threes off the bounce or the catch. You like the upside here."
Nate Ament's trip to Durham will coincide with official visits from at least two prime 2024 Duke basketball targets in Wisconsin Lutheran five-star small forward Kon Knueppel and St. Thomas More (Conn.) four-star small forward Tyler Betsey.
