Duke Basketball: Towering Overseas Talent Now Set to Visit Blue Devils
According to a post from 247Sports' Adam Rowe on Friday evening, NBA Academy Africa center Khaman Maluach plans to be in Durham for a Duke basketball visit "later this month."
The 7-foot-2, 235-pound prospect, a projected five-star who recently announced his reclassification from 2025 and now ranks No. 15 overall among 2024 preps in the eyes of On3, has held an offer from the Blue Devils since August. Thus far, his only other official suitors, per On3, are Georgetown and UCLA.
Maluach's scheduled trip suggests Duke is notably active in his recruitment.
Here's what 247Sports' Travis Branham wrote about the budding skills of the 17-year-old South Sudan native in December:
"If Khaman Maluach was playing in the United States, he'd regularly be in the conversation as one of the best prospects in all of high school basketball.
"[He] has a special blend of rim protection, rebounding, mobility and the ability to score inside and out...In the past, Maluach was a standout prospect due to his size and length with his ability to make jumpers, but he is now making a significant impact down low while also being a terrific vocal leader for his team on the court."
Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his cohorts already enjoy the nation's No. 1 haul in the 2024 cycle, a five-deep bunch featuring the premier high school senior in Montverde Academy (Fla.) five-star forward Cooper Flagg.
And the Blue Devils have a chance to further bolster their class on Sunday when Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.) five-star guard and longtime Duke target VJ Edgecombe reveals his college choice.
