Future Duke Basketball Flamethrower Stacks Up 30-Point Outings

It wouldn't be a surprise if Isaiah Evans becomes a double-digit scorer as a Duke basketball rookie.

In this story:

A month before committing to the Duke basketball program last spring, North Meck (N.C.) forward Isaiah Evans dropped 62 points in a state playoff game. The 6-foot-6, 170-pound five-star, now an early Blue Devil signee, hasn't matched that scoring total this year.

Perhaps he is waiting for the postseason to tip off in a few weeks.

For now, Evans is just routinely tallying 30 points or more for a North Meck squad that boasts a 16-3 overall record this season. That includes his past two performances: 33 points and six steals in Friday night's 88-53 road win over Hough (N.C.), then 30 points in a 104-39 home drubbing of Harding (N.C.) on Tuesday night.

Here are the Friday night highlights, showcasing his smooth 3-point stroke, underrated playmaking abilities, and explosive fastbreak finishes:

And as one can see in the post below, the Tuesday night bucket-getting prowess of Evans, who has drawn comparisons to former Blue Devil one-and-done and current New Orleans Pelicans star Brandon Ingram, included a self-created alley-oop dunk off the glass in transition:

At No. 14 on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, Isaiah Evans has the second-highest ranking among the five Duke basketball signees. He and Montverde Academy (Fla.) forward Cooper Flagg, the nation's premier high school senior, are the only two who became McDonald's All-American Game selections last week.

The other Blue Devil prizes are Wisconsin Lutheran five-star forward Kon Knueppel and two Paul VI Catholic (Va.) sensations in five-star center Patrick Ngongba II and four-star forward Darren Harris.

Predictions Pop Up for Major Duke Target Khaman Maluach
