Prime Duke Basketball Target Now 'Leaning One Way' in Recruitment
Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.) senior VJ Edgecombe recently noted that he plans to pick a winner in his recruitment "in the next couple of months or so." There's now reason to think the five-star Duke basketball target's announced decision will come sooner rather than later in that timeframe.

On Tuesday night, following Edgecombe's explosive 20-point performance in his team's 83-59 win over Westminster Academy (Fla.) at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla., the 6-foot-5, 180-pound prolific guard made an interesting admission to the media.
"I am leaning one way," he said, according to 247Sports' Travis Branham.
There's no word yet on which way he's leaning. However, considering he has also mentioned several times in the past that he'll announce his decision whenever it feels right, his comment feels like a sign that he's on the verge of making up his mind and revealing his choice to the recruiting world.
In late July, VJ Edgecombe, now the highest-ranked undecided prospect in his class at No. 5 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, named 10 finalists: Duke, Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, St. John's, UConn, and pro-route option G League Ignite. He later added Kentucky after receiving an offer from the Wildcats.
Since then, he's visited Florida, Michigan, Duke, Kentucky, and St. John's, in that order.
Roughly two weeks after Edgecombe returned home from his Duke basketball visit, where he attended Countdown to Craziness alongside all five 2024 recruits who have since signed with the Blue Devils, the first 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions appeared in his recruitment.
As things stand, all three of those entered picks still see second-year Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and his top-shelf recruiting team coming out on top to add to their top-ranked collection.
