Update on Duke Basketball's Pursuit of No. 1 Point Guard

Duke basketball is the "dream school" for a gifted 2025 backcourt prospect.

Lincoln Park (Pa.) five-star Meleek Thomas, who ranks No. 6 overall, No. 1 among point guards, and No. 1 in Pennsylvania on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, became the fourth and most recent Duke basketball offer recipient in his class back in late April.

Roughly two months later, it looks as though the interest from the Blue Devils has not waned a bit.

Before noon on Thursday, the first time college recruiters may call, text, or message 2025 preps directly, Thomas told On3's Joe Tipton that the Duke coaches had already contacted him.

But it's no surprise that the staff in Durham wasn't the only blueblood to do so. Fellow recruiting powerhouse Kentucky is another. The Wildcats, not to mention reigning national champion UConn and several more high-profile suitors, extended an offer to Thomas around the same time the Blue Devils entered the fray.

As for his interest level in the Blue Devils, it seems safe to say Thomas will keep Jon Scheyer and his gang in contention until the end. After all, the 6-foot-4, 175-pound dazzling ball-handler has referred to Duke as his "dream school."

Meleek Thomas has not scheduled any official visits, revealed finalists, or noted a timeline for his recruitment, and no national insiders have entered a prediction for the race. However, he has mentioned the Duke basketball program as one he'd like to check out in person.

Meanwhile, expect more reports of Blue Devil calls to rising high school juniors in the coming days since the open contact period is officially in full swing on the 2025 recruiting trail.
