Report: Florida Promotes WR to Scholarship Roster
Florida has placed walk-on wide receiver Kahleil Jackson on scholarship ahead of the 2023 season, according to Jacob Rudner of Swamp247.
Jackson, a rising third-year sophomore, has been considered a candidate to fill one of Florida's scholarship vacancies throughout the offseason.
He — alongside kicker Adam Mihalek, tight end Scott Isacks and defensive lineman Keenan Landry — earned temporary scholarships for the 2023 spring and summer semesters, UF head coach Billy Napier told reporters before a May 3 speaking event in Sarasota, Fla.
"Jackson, in particular, has an opportunity to earn a scholarship full-time," Napier said at the time.
Jackson is a third-generation Gator and the grandson of Willie Jackson Sr., the first African American scholarship player in UF history. He emerged as a spring camp standout earlier this year, according to teammates, after appearing in six games and hauling in two passes for 43 yards during the 2022 season.
"Kahleil Jackson has been balling this spring," quarterback Jack Miller III said in March.
Former Gators wide receiver Xzavier Henderson, who transferred to Cincinnati in May, suggested in April that Jackson runs one of the fastest 40-yard dashes on the team.
Jackson becomes the No. 83 scholarship member of Florida's 2023 roster, and the ninth scholarship wide receiver. East Los Angeles College (JUCO) edge rusher Quincy Ivory, who committed to UF in June, is expected to fill one of the two remaining vacancies upon enrollment in the coming weeks.
