Nearly an hour after losing long-standing running back pledge Chauncey Bowens to Georgia, the Florida Gators made a promising splash in the recruiting department by picking up East Los Angeles College edge prospect Quincy Ivory on Saturday.

"First and foremost, I want to thank god for putting me in a position to play at the next level .... again," he said in his post to Twitter. "I want to thank my family for always supporting me no matter the circumstances. I want to give a special shoutout to my brother and coaches at ELAC for holding me to a higher standard and continuing to push me every day.

"There [are] so many more people I wish I had time to thank, but the real ones know who they are. Never in a million years would I have guessed this was my journey. My story is untold, unheard, but still being written.

"I want to thank Coach [Billy] Napier, Coach [Austin] Armstrong, Coach [Mike] Peterson, Joe Hamilton and Jacob LaFrance for showing me why Gainesville, Florida, is where I need to be," he continued. "With that being said, Gator Country, let's make history."

Formerly a quarterback during his stint at Mississippi Valley State before transferring to ELAC, Ivory is still adjusting to the edge rusher position.

However, standing at 6-foot-5, 255 pounds, Ivory mirrors the mold of talent the Gators' defense looks to equip a newly redefined edge position under Peterson with moving forward. His length and athleticism shined in a breakout 2022 campaign, where he compiled 22 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and five pass breakups in ten games.

Select Division-I programs took notice despite the small scale he performed on. Florida was among the mix and rose to the top as the leading contender to secure Ivory's services as he looked to upgrade from the junior college ranks.

On Saturday, he did just that.

Possessing high upside at a position of need for the Gators, Ivory's been in contact with the Florida staff since mid-May. Traveling to campus for the June 9-11 official visit weekend, Ivory earned the committable offer he sought and announced his intentions to don orange and blue in the next stage of his football career shortly thereafter.

Ivory will suit up for the 2023 campaign as a redshirt sophomore. He heads to Gainesville with three years of eligibility remaining.
