Report: LB Aaron Chiles Locks In Florida Gators Official Visit
Olney (Md.) Our Lady Good Counsel 2024 linebacker Aaron Chiles placed Florida in his top ten schools this past Thursday. It's safe to assume the Gators have separated themselves from roughly half of the programs on that list.
Chiles has scheduled official visits to four of his top ten programs, including one to Florida during the weekend of June 9-11, according to EJ Holland of On3 Sports. He'll make his way to Clemson the weekend before (June 2-4) then head to Notre Dame (June 16-18) and Michigan (June 23-25).
Chiles appears content with holding onto his fifth official visit at this time, leaving Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Ohio State and Penn State vying for his final allotted official trip before he makes his college decision.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Chiles currently ranks as the nation's No. 7 linebacker and No. 88 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. In a hybrid off-ball/edge-rushing role for the Falcons, Chiles produced 74 tackles, 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles during his 2022 junior season.
Florida placed emphasis on recruiting Jay Bateman's inside linebacker position in the early stages of the 2024 recruiting cycle, first securing the commitment of UF legacy recruit Myles Graham of Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy in Aug. 2022 then pulling in the pledge of Largo (Fla.) High's Adarius Hayes in January.
Adding Chiles to the group would offer Florida three of the top 100 overall prospects in the class of 2024 at the same general position, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
If that were to happen and if the rankings were to hold, the hypothetical trio could be considered UF's top-rated positional haul since the class of 2010 when the Gators signed four of the nation's top 44 recruits, including three of the top six, each player a defensive line prospect: Ronald Powell, Dominique Easley, Sharrif Floyd and Chris Martin.
Florida has not signed more than two players from the same position within the top 100 prospects in the country since that class.
