Copperas Cover (Texas) High offensive tackle prospect Michael Uini is down to six programs in his recruitment: Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Texas.

The Gators will host the high-priority Lone Star State native on an official visit from June 9-11, one of three star-studded visit weekends in Gainesville this summer.

Uini is scheduled to visit five of the six schools officially before signing day, leaving his home-state Texas squad as the odd school out at the moment.

However, under the new NCAA guidelines permitting talent to trek to more than five campuses officially in their recruitment cycle, the Longhorns could still earn Uini's presence on a multi-day basis. That trip would likely come in-season, as he's booked during the first four weekends of June.

Recruiting elite high school talent to fill spots on the exterior offensive line has been unsuccessful for Florida across two regimes. Dan Mullen and Co. struggled to supply the offense with bookend tackle talent, and the duo of offensive line coaches under Billy Napier have continued that trend — although not for the lack of trying.

Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton look to break the trend with their pursuit of several top player at the position during the 2024 cycle. The summer visitors Florida has scheduled at the spot gives them ample opportunity to do so.

Uini, a true left tackle at 6-foot-7, 290 pounds, stands near the top of the shortlist of primary targets. Florida's franchise quarterback commit — and fellow Texas occupant — DJ Lagway has aided the staff in its mission to pin down the lineman to protect him at the next level and will continue doing so moving forward.
