Recruit Roundup: Week 3 Florida Commitment Standouts and Highlights
Week 3 of the high school football season has come and gone, and with it came some monster performances from commits that have made their way onto this list before.
All Gators put together a recruiting spotlight to highlight those commitments and how they performed in the most recent matchups of their senior seasons.
RB Kahnen Daniels, West Point (Miss.) High
Do-it-all running back Kahnen Daniels followed up last week's 281-yard, three-touchdown showing by absolutely blowing those stats out of the water in Week 3.
The talented ball carrier ran wild on the Noxubee County Tigers' defense, racking up a ridiculous 427 yards over 38 rushing attempts and accounting for all seven of West Point's touchdowns to carry the Green Wave to a 50-40 victory, the team's first of the year.
Over the past two weeks, Daniels has carried the ball 54 times for 708 yards and 10 touchdowns.
QB DJ Lagway, Willis (Texas) High
Prized Gators quarterback pledge DJ Lagway finds himself on this list once again following a dominant showing in Willis' 54-21 victory over New Caney.
Lagway was an efficient 25-of-32 passing for 339 yards and five touchdowns on the night, also contributing 62 yards on the ground on six attempts.
The talented signal-caller continues to prove that he can make all the throws including off-schedule and off-platform tosses where his pure arm talent shines through, like the one displayed in the clip below.
Willis remains undefeated on the year thanks in large part to Lagway's production.
Jerrae Hawkins Jr., IMG Academy (Fla.)
Since moving south to Florida by way of West Virginia, wide receiver Jerrae Hawkins has consistently proven that his speed translates. The track and field standout is putting his speed to great use this season with multiple catch-and-run touchdowns on the year, including a 65-yard score on Friday.
Hawkins finished the game with three catches for 69 yards and the aforementioned touchdown.
While IMG Academy's offense isn't very pass-heavy — its leading receiver has only 12 catches on the year — Hawkins has made the most of his limited opportunities. He has turned nine receptions into 159 yards (17.6 yards per catch) and two trips to the end zone as the Ascenders' No. 2 pass-catcher thus far.
Find out more about Hawkins' skill set in his All Gators' scouting report:
Profile
: Florida has coveted speed at wide receiver under Napier's leadership and none represent that quality better than Hawkins, who has a 4.25-second 40-yard dash and 6.69-second 60-meter, 10.37-second 100-meter and 21.48-second 200-meter dashes to his name. He averaged 18.1 yards per catch across 97 receptions for 1,751 yards and 20 touchdowns in two varsity seasons at Wheeling Park High School, before transferring to IMG Academy for his senior campaign.
Hawkins will need to add good weight to his frame to withstand the physicality of the SEC, but UF will want to balance his strength and conditioning approach in order to maintain his athleticism.
