BREAKING: Florida State Left On Outside Looking In Of College Football Playoff Field

The Seminoles were not selected to make the College Football Playoff despite finishing 13-0.

Throughout the 2023 season, Florida State has faced every obstacle in its path with eagerness. From the opening win against LSU to an overtime triumph over Clemson in Death Valley, and all the way to Charlotte where the team secured its first ACC Championship under head coach Mike Norvell.

Once again, the Seminoles found themselves staring down adversity after the team learned redshirt junior Tate Rodemaker would miss the contest while recovering from a concussion. That forced true freshman Brock Glenn into his first career start with Florida State needing a victory to advance to the College Football Playoff.

It was anything except pretty but Glenn and the offense generated enough success to knock off Louisville, 16-6. With the final College Football Playoff rankings dropping on Sunday afternoon, the committee disregarded Florida State for winning two consecutive games without the services of star quarterback Jordan Travis.

On Sunday, the CFP rankings were debuted live on ESPN following conference championship weekend. Florida State slotted in at No. 5, meaning the program has been left out of the playoffs despite being an undefeated Power Five Champion and ACC Champion.

The top six were made up of No. 1 Michigan, No. 2 Washington, No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Florida State, and No. 6 Georgia. That means the Wolveries and Crimson Tide are matching up while the Huskies and Longhorns will face off to decide who makes the national championship game in Houston. The Seminoles are on the outside looking in with the Bulldogs.

Other notable teams inside the CFP top-25 rankings include three teams that FSU has wins over; No. 13 LSU, No. 15 Louisville, and No. 22 Clemson. The Seminoles accumulated a 31-24 overtime victory over Clemson, who have won four straight games, in Death Valley in September. Florida State also holds a 45-24 victory over LSU in the season-opener.

Outside of their selection in the College Football Playoff Rankings, Florida State slotted in at No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. The Seminoles secured their 50th bowl appearance and 16th ACC Championship in program history.

FSU has won 19 consecutive games dating back to last season, the third-longest streak in the nation and second-longest streak in program history. The Seminoles have been ranked in the top 5 for fourteen consecutive weeks and haven't allowed an opponent to score 30 points this year.

Florida State will return to action in a to be determined New Years Six Bowl Game.
