FSU QB Tate Rodemaker's Dad Updates Availability for ACC Championship Game
No. 4 Florida State is slated to face off against No. 4 Louisville on Saturday with much on the line as they look for their second College Football Playoff appearance in what has been a roller coaster of a 2023 season. FSU remains undefeated heading into the ACC Championship Game but has seen its fair share of adversity.
Star quarterback and ACC Player of the Year Jordan Travis' season ended abruptly when he suffered a tragic leg injury in their 58-13 victory over North Alabama. This propelled backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker into the starting role early in the first quarter. Rodemaker's next start would be against rival UF on the road, and the 'Noles were able to claw their way to a 24-15 victory to finish the regular season.

The win against the Gators also came with its challenges, as a helmet-to-helmet hit sidelined Rodemaker, who would later return to take the final snaps of the game.
There has been speculation on Rodemaker's availability for Saturday's contest as it was leaked and later confirmed that his timeline would be "day-to-day". Rodemaker's dad, Alan, went on MadDog Radio with Lance Medow to discuss the situation regarding his son and confirmed that he was placed in concussion protocol after further evaluation.
"He's doing really good. The problem is just the timeframes with all the protocols they have to go through because he did have a concussion," Alan Rodemaker said. "He was fine Saturday night after the game, but Sunday, they run all the players that play in the game through a series of tests with the training staff, and I think that's pretty common across Division One athletics and football. Some of the things they were concerned about on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday said that he did go through a concussion there last week. Throughout the week, he practiced every day, and progressively, he's gotten better, so it's just a timeframe issue now. They're going to make a call today."
The Seminoles would rely on freshman quarterback Brock Glenn if Rodemaker is unavailable for Louisville. Glenn, a former four-star recruit out of Covington, Tennesee, has thrown four passes for 35 yards and has a rushing touchdown on the season.
As of right now, Rodemaker's availability is still in question.
"I would say right now, it's a 50/50 deal. We just don't know. They did not want to make a call until this afternoon."
The ACC Championship game is set to kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ABC.
