BREAKING: Joshua Farmer Reverses Course, Returning to Florida State

Another twist in this strange scenario that has played out over the last couple of days.

The players have all of the leverage in the NIL Era of college football as we've seen over the past couple of days in Tallahassee.

Earlier this week, redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Joshua Farmer declared his intentions to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal before officially appearing in the database on Thursday afternoon. It seemed like things were over after Farmer was removed from Florida State's roster but this situation continues to provide shocking twists and turns.

Hours after officially being listed in the portal and open for other teams across the country to contact, Farmer announced on social media that he was reversing course and returning to Florida State.

"I know the last 48 hours have been extremely challenging. After talking with my family and loved ones I know that Florida State is home and it always will be. I believe in this team and the family we have. I want to be a part of helping the program get to where I know we can go and to give all I have making that happen. #Family #KeepCLIMBing"

The NCAA Transfer Portal spring window will close after Sunday, April 30. Farmer and other Seminoles have a couple more days to finalize their decisions. Ideally, this will be the final move for the redshirt sophomore defensive tackle that is expected to be in Florida State's rotation this fall.

Farmer turned in a breakout campaign in 2022 as he appeared in all 13 games and recorded 15 tackles, six tackles for loss, and two sacks. He ended up leading all freshmen in the ACC in tackles for loss and was named one of Florida State's Co-Freshmen of the Year alongside defensive end Patrick Payton.

The Florida native was the program's biggest loss to the portal before his decision to return. He is expected to be a member of the rotation at defensive tackle this upcoming season alongside Fabien Lovett, Braden Fiske, Jackson, Dennis Briggs, Malcolm Ray, Daniel Lyons, and others.

Farmer was expected to be a hot commodity on the transfer market. Two other players that recently transferred from Florida State - defensive end Derrick McLendon II and linebacker Brendan Gant - landed at Colorado earlier this week. Other former Seminoles such as defensive tackle Antavious Woody, offensive lineman Zane Herring, and linebacker Stephen Dix Jr. are still looking for new homes.
