Chicago Bears Opt for FSU Football Standout Ninth Overall in Latest CBS Sports Mock Draft

Jared Verse compiled an impressive stat sheet while in Tallahassee.

Former Florida State standout defensive end Jared Verse is projected to be picked ninth by the Chicago Bears in CBS Sports' John Edwards' latest 2024 NFL mock draft.

The publication lists him as the 13th-best prospect in the draft and the fourth-best edge rusher. Verse is the second defensive end off the board behind Alabama’s Dallas Turner (No. 8 to Atlanta) in this prediction.

“Chicago ranked dead last at one point in sack production," wrote Edwards. "The acquisition of Montez Sweat at the trade deadline allowed for the franchise to precipitously move up the pecking order, but the Bears throw their climb into hyperdrive with the addition of Jared Verse,”

Verse’s career at Florida State was filled with dominant play and an impressive stat sheet to go alongside it. In 15 games played for the Seminoles, Verse recorded 45 solo tackles, 89 total tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, and 18 sacks. He posted 4.5 sacks, 12 total tackles, and six tackles for loss in his final two games against Florida on the road and Louisville in Charlotte (ACC Championship Game).

Verse has shown an uncanny ability to move other grown men against their will. Here it is in action against the rival Florida Gators.

Here it is once more against Louisville in the ACC Championship.

Should Verse continue to display his impeccable skill set at the next level, he could have a very successful career in the NFL.
