Florida State at Wake Forest: Three Key Matchups To Take Down The Demon Deacons

The Florida State Seminoles look to remain perfect on the season as they take on Wake Forest.

The Florida State Seminoles have a chance to move to 8-0 on the season as they travel to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Demon Deacons are 4-3 on the season and all three of their losses have come in their ACC matchups.

Now, the Seminoles have found themselves in threatening situations a few times this season, and it won't be any different in North Carolina if the team isn't locked in from the get-go.

Here are three key matchups for the Seminoles as they take on the Demon Deacons on the road.

1. Florida State Run Defense vs. Wake Forest Running Backs

If the Seminoles want to take care of business, they've got to stop Wake Forest's run game. They've got to force the Demon Deacons to gear toward the passing attack and force them into mistakes.

The Demon Deacons have three running backs capable of hurting the Seminoles if their defense is wired and frantic while going on the road for the first time in a month.

2. Florida State vs. Themselves

Whether it be Jordan Travis with interceptions or any skill position player with fumbles, the Seminoles can't turn the ball over.

Heading to North Carolina, the Seminoles will have to limit opportunities for Wake Forest and take care of business, which includes finishing drives rather than giving the Demon Deacons the ball in position to strike.

3. Florida State Defensive Backs vs. Wake Forest Pass Game

This one goes hand-in-hand with the run defense. If and when the run defense forces the Demon Deacons to the passing game, the defensive backs have to be ready to make game-swinging plays.

A timely pick could be what blows this game open for the Seminoles and that level of opportunity allows for a defensive back to come through and really change the game.
