Florida State Seminoles Open As Double-Digit Favorite In Top-25 Matchup Against Duke Blue Devils

The Seminoles are favored by 10+ points for the third straight week.

The Seminoles didn't allow a touchdown for the first time this season as the defense was at the forefront of the 41-3 victory against Syracuse. Florida State forced nine punts and only allowed points on 1/12 drives (8.3%) as they kept a tight hold around the Orange.

After outscoring their opponents by a combined 80-20 over the past two weeks, the Seminoles will face a test when the No. 16 ranked Duke Blue Devils travel to Tallahassee on Saturday night. The Blue Devils have quickly developed into a formidable opponent under second-year head coach Mike Elko.

On Sunday afternoon, opening odds were released for Week 8 games around college football. According to Circa Sports, Florida State opened as a 13-point favorite against Duke. The Over/Under is set at 52.5 points, predicting roughly a 32.5-19.5 victory for the Seminoles over the Blue Devils.

This is the third consecutive week where the 'Noles have opened as a double-digit favorite. The Seminoles were 25-point favorites against Virginia Tech and 20-point favorites against Syracuse.

FSU has won 12 straight games dating back to the middle of the last season. The Seminoles have scored at least 30 points throughout the entirety of the winning streak, the second-longest active streak in the nation, per FSU Sports Information.

Duke is 5-1 but is dealing with uncertainty surrounding the availability of star quarterback Riley Leonard. The junior signal-caller suffered a lower-body injury late in the loss against Notre Dame that was later reported to be a high ankle sprain. The Blue Devils came out of a BYE week in a win over NC State with backup quarterback Henry Belin IV under center.

Belin completed 4/12 passes for 108 yards with two passing touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed five times for 28 yards in his first career start. The Blue Devils have only allowed double digits twice this season and have only surrendered 20+ points one time.

Florida State and Duke will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21. The game will be televised on ABC.
