Florida State's Johnny Wilson Top 10 Returning Receiver in 2023

Another Seminole cracks PFF's top 10.

The 2022 season has come and gone, and the Florida State Seminoles are coming off their first 10-win season since 2016. They finished 11th in the AP Poll and 10th in the Coaches Poll and are primed for another breakout season that some say will lead them to the College Football Playoffs. They return nearly all of their offensive talent aside from running back Treshaun Ward (Kansas State) and wide receiver Mycah Pittman, who both opted to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal in the off-season.

With players like quarterback Jordan Travis and running back Trey Benson both breaking the top 10 in season grades per Pro Football Focus, the excitement brewing in Tallahassee is palatable.

Florida State also returns team-leading wideout Johnny Wilson, who graded seventh in the country of wide receivers for 2023 after coming off an 897-yard season.

In his first year with FSU, Wilson started all 13 games and recorded 43 receptions for and five touchdowns. He was named second-team All-ACC and FSU Offensive Newcomer of the Year and a Seminole Scholar. Wilson led the ACC and ranked third in the country with 22 20-yard receptions, and was second in the conference and fifth nationally with an average of 20.86 yards per catch. He also tied for the ACC lead and for 10th nationally with two 60-yard receptions, ranking second in the conference and sixth in the country with four 50-yard receptions.

Wilson will be a part of a very talented wide receiver room that features stand-out freshmen like Hykeem Williams and Vandrevious Jacobs while also returning veteran talents like Kentron Poitier, Ja'Khi Douglas, Darion Williamson, and Deuce Spann.
