Florida State's Season Opener Against LSU Offically a Top-10 Matchup

The Seminoles and Tigers will match up in one of the most exciting non-conference matchups of 2023.

It's official. The primetime showdown against the Florida State Seminoles and the LSU Tigers inside Camping World Stadium will be billed as a top-10 matchup as the two powerhouses collide for a rematch from a year ago.

The Associated Press released its preseason top-25 on Monday morning, and the 'Noles and the Tigers landed inside the top 10. Earlier this month, the USA Today Coaches poll was released, which placed FSU at the No. 8 spot and LSU at No. 5, so it is no surprise that the AP Poll kept the same predictions.

Last year the two teams clashed in New Orleans, Louisiana, to kick off what would be a two-part "home and home" series in which Florida State would leave the Tigers heartbroken in a 24-23 victory setting the stage for a 10-3 (5-3 ACC) season.

There has been a constant back and forth from players eagerly waiting to get back to the gridiron and square off once again.

“We earmark it because it’s the first one. I mean, we all know what happened last year. We want that taste out of our mouth," LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels said in an interview with WGNO-TV at the Manning Passing Academy.

Daniels completed 25 of 34 passes for 209 yards in the air with two passing touchdowns a year ago. He found an even deeper grove on the ground, with 114 yards off 16 carries.

"There is no pressure ever. We're focused on LSU. That's all we're focused on right now. Just taking it day by day, week by week, game by game. When it comes to game week, we're focused on LSU," Travis said when asked about the high expectations of the 2023 season.

The hype around the Seminoles is real, as quarterback Jordan Travis will be entering his last year with the Seminoles as a Heisman candidate and coming off his best season to date. Last season he threw for 3,214 yards and 24 touchdowns, adding 417 on the ground and another seven scores.

With the returning talent around both teams and an influx of talent brought in through recruiting and the portal, all eyes will be tuned in to ABC at 7:30 p.m. to watch a bout of the ages.
