Florida State's Trey Benson 'Way More Confident' Heading Into Week 1 Battle Against LSU
Florida State is heading into a highly anticipated, top-ten matchup against LSU in Week 1. The game marks the start of a huge season ahead, which holds plenty of expectation and hype built throughout the offseason.
Seminoles' running back Trey Benson has a chance to make a huge impact on the game. He's due for a huge season that will likely see him being one of the best running backs in the 2024 NFL Draft.
"I feel natural now, way more confident than last year. It's finally slowing down for me," Benson said at the last practice of fall camp. "...Just another year in the system, actually becoming more of a leader. I've been feeling comfortable."

The matchup between FSU and LSU is the second game of a "home and home" series. Last year, when the Seminoles edged out the Tigers 24-23 in a thriller, Benson received six carries for a total of 15 yards. This year, he's expected to make a much bigger impact.
Benson's breakout came midway through last season, and the departure of Treshaun Ward opens up the potential for the redshirt junior to be a big-impact player in this matchup this time around.
Not only did Benson have a breakout season last year, but he's coming off a huge camp ahead of a season that holds big expectations for both him and the Seminoles as a whole.
It was only fitting that Benson was selected to break the rock to cap off fall camp which signifies the start of game week and a new season.
"It felt great," Benson said of breaking the rock. "It was unexpected. I was like playing with my shoulder pads and I heard my name being called, and I was like 'woah, it's me?' It was great, I'm blessed to be able to break the rock at the end of fall camp."
Now, how exactly did Benson earn that honor? By not only playing for himself but also bringing the energy on a daily basis and growing as a leader.
"Just coming to work every day even if we're having a bad day, I brought the energy in the running back room, in the whole offense," Benson said. "Building confidence, building my leadership. Talking more because this year I was really working on my leadership. Being an overall leader."
