Former Florida Gators Coach Says FSU is No. 1 Team of the Week After LSU Upset
The No. 4 Florida State Seminoles rocked the college football world in Week 1 with an explosive and dominating performance over the LSU Tigers. It was the first top-10 matchup of the season and the first top-10 win for FSU since 2016.
The 45-24 victory over the Tigers turned heads across the country with experts and analysts weighing in on opening weekend. Former Florida head coach and ESPN analyst Dan Mullen gave his picks for the most impressive team and the former rival has Florida State at No. 1.
FSU quarterback Jordan Travis accounted for 380 yards and five touchdowns with one interception behind an offensive line that didn't give up any sacks while wide receiver Keon Coleman had an impressive 122 yards and three scores in his debut as a Seminole.
On the defensive side of the ball, the 'Noles had two impressive goal-line stands and held the Tigers to just three out of 10 third-down conversions while stopping all of the three fourth-down conversions on the night.
Mullen has the No. 22 Colorado Buffalos coming in at No. 2 after their week one upset over a ranked TCU in head coach Deion Sanders' first game in Denver and No. 12 Utah coming in the fifth position after their 24-11 victory over the Florida Gators.
