Former Florida State Linebacker Transfers For Second Time In College Career

The former Seminole will be suiting up for his third team in five years in 2023.

Florida State's roster looks a lot different than it did nearly four years ago when head coach Mike Norvell arrived in Tallahassee. The coaching staff spent a lot of its early tenure revamping the roster as a number of players transferred from the program.

The Seminoles replaced those losses with a focus on the portal while adding quality talent from the high school ranks.

FSU signed 20 prospects out of high school in former head coach Willie Taggart's final recruiting class with the program in 2019. Entering the 2023 season, only seven players from the class (35%) remain with the Seminoles but that doesn't mean other members of the group haven't found homes elsewhere.

On Thursday evening, former Seminole linebacker Kevon Glenn announced that he was transferring to UConn for his final season of collegiate eligibility. The Huskies will be the third team that he's played for during his five-year career as he transferred to Georgia Southern from Florida State following the 2020 season.

Glenn committed to FSU in December of 2018 over offers from programs such as Maryland, Missouri, Ole Miss, Michigan State, and Georgia Tech. He redshirted during his first year with the Seminoles, making his college debut against Alabama State and seeing action in the Sun Bowl loss to Arizona State.

The Georgia native stuck around when Norvell replaced Taggart but didn't see his role increase. Glenn continued to contribute as a reserve, appearing in three games in 2020 and making the lone tackle of his Florida State career against Jacksonville State.

After transferring to Georgia State, he had a career year in 2021 as Glenn appeared in all 12 games and recorded 26 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and a forced fumble. He totaled a career-high nine tackles and a forced fumble against Florida Atlantic.

Glenn's impact decreased dramatically this past season with coach Clay Helton taking over the program. He was limited to 26 special teams snaps in four appearances. Glenn made a tackle in the Camellia Bowl and also appeared against South Alabama, Louisiana, and Appalachian State.

UConn made a bowl game for the first time since 2015 under first-year head coach Jim Mora. Glenn will look to contribute to the program's growth this fall.
