Former FSU Football Running Back Hits Transfer Portal For Second Time

The former Seminole spent the last two years at TCU.

Former Florida State running back and special teams contributor Corey Wren has entered the transfer portal for the second time.

After departing from the Seminoles following the 2021 season, Wren found a new home in Fort Worth, Texas with the TCU Horned Frogs.

There he appeared in 19 total games in 2022 and 2023. Wren accounted for 69 total yards on 19 plays from scrimmage. 61 of those yards came on the ground on 15 carries – an average of 4.1 yards a play. He also nabbed four receptions for a total of eight yards.

During his time at FSU, however, Wren appeared in 12 games over two seasons (2020, 2021) and returned six kickoffs for a total of 110 yards. In his true freshman season, he averaged 15 yards a return on three attempts. His numbers improved the next year with 65 yards a return (also on three attempts).

According to 247Sports, Wren was a four-star recruit out of high school and a three-star prospect during his first visit to the transfer portal.

During his high school recruitment process, the New Orleans native took official visits to TCU, Arizona State, Houston, Maryland, and Florida State, respectively. Wren was ranked the 448th prospect nationally and the 20th best prospect from the state of Louisiana.

With former Florida State offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham serving as Wren’s secondary recruiter at Florida State according to On3, the idea that the former Horned Frog could reunite with his former coach is not out of the question.
