Dallas Cowboys Projected To Select Former FSU Football Star In First Round
The NFL Combine is underway in Indianapolis as prospects try to utilize the event to boost their respective draft stocks. The next week has a chance to help, or hurt, players who are participating in athletic testing, on-field drills, and interviews. It's also a chance for the cream of the crop to set themselves apart from the competition.
Former Florida State star wide receiver Keon Coleman is one of the top prospects at his position. With his decision to run the 40-yard dash at the combine, there's an opportunity for Coleman to solidify himself as a first-round pick. As of now, he's considered a late-first to early-second round selection among a talented class of wide receivers.

There a variety of teams across the league that could utilize a play-making wide receiver with the ability to make the toughest of contested catches. Coleman was recently projected to land with the Dallas Cowboys with the No. 24 overall selection according to The Athletic's Chris Vannini.
"The Cowboys have options here, but the offense has lacked a WR2 alongside CeeDee Lamb since the Amari Cooper trade. The 6-4 Coleman is a physical specimen who had 11 touchdowns on 50 catches for FSU last season. There’s no such thing as a 50-50 ball with Coleman, especially matched up against No. 2 cornerbacks. Give Dak Prescott another elite receiving weapon. — Vannini"
Based on the mock, Coleman would be the fourth wide receiver off the board behind Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr., LSU's Malik Nabers, and Washington's Rome Odunze. There are seven total wide receivers projected to be taken in the opening round of the draft, speaking to the depth of the position this year.
If the Dallas Cowboys are going to continue to attach themselves at the hip to Dak Prescott, they need to add more weapons to their offensive arsenal. Coleman would be an instant threat alongside CeeDee Lamb, who is coming off the best season of his professional career.
Coleman caught 50 passes for 658 yards, and 11 touchdowns while returning 25 punts for 300 yards during his lone season at Florida State. He became the first player in program history to be named First-Team All-ACC at three different positions (wide receiver, all-purpose player, and specialist). Coleman caught six touchdowns in his first four games before being banged up for much of the second half of the season.
Prior to his time with the Seminoles, Coleman spent two season at Michigan State where he caught 65 passes for 848 yards and eight touchdowns. He signed with the Spartans as a three-star prospect in the 2021 class.
The NFL Draft is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
