FSU Football Finalizes 2025 Schedule With Addition Of FCS Opponent

The Seminoles know all 12 teams they'll face during the 2025 season.

The Florida State Seminoles have finalized their 2025 football schedule with the addition of a 12th regular season game.

The Seminoles will host Texas A&M University-Commerce in Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday, September 6, 2025, according to a public records request. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between Florida State and the Lions on the gridiron.

Per the contract, FSU will pay $450,000 to Texas A&M University-Commerce by February 15, 2026. The university will also provide 300 complimentary tickets and normal stipulations for the contest.

The Lions are a member of the Southland Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The program is entering its third season at the FCS level after moving up from D2. Texas A&M University-Commerce has compiled a 6-15 record over the last two years, including a 1-9 finish in 2023.

It was previously announced that Florida State will face off with Kent State University on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Doak Campbell Stadium. The Seminoles will pay $1.2 million by February 15, 2026, to secure the contest.

Texas A&M University-Commerce Athletics Director Jim Curry spoke about the upcoming matchup against Florida State back in September. His comments were made in a release of the university's announcement of games against San Diego State and the Seminoles. Curry worked at FSU as a Senior Associate Athletics Director from 2016-23.

"We are beyond excited to add San Diego State and Florida State to our future football schedules," Curry said. "Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego is one of the newest venues in college football, and Doak Campbell Stadium at Florida State is one of the most iconic venues in the sport."

"In addition to providing a memorable experience for our student-athletes and fans, these opportunities allow us to showcase our entire university to the rest of the country," Curry continued. "Thank you to JD Wicker at San Diego State, and Michael Alford and Mike Norvell at Florida State for affording us these opportunities."

The Seminoles now know the entirety of their 2025 schedule. Outside of Texas A&M University-Commerce and Kent State, Florida State will host Alabama on Saturday, August 30, 2025, and travel to Florida on Saturday, November 29, 2025. The game against the Crimson Tide will mark the beginning of the campaign and the road game in Gainesville will be the regular-season finale.

Florida State's conference opponents have also been unveiled but the exact dates will be determined before the season. The Seminole will host Miami, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Wake Forest while playing Clemson, Duke, Louisville, and Virginia Tech on the road.

The matchup with the Crimson Tide is expected to be the first football game in a newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium. It's a highly-anticipated contest that will feature Mike Norvell's first chance to coach against Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer.

FSU is 6-1 against Group of Five or FCS opponents ahead of Norvell's fifth year in Tallahassee. The Seminoles have won 28 of their last 35 games dating back to the middle of the 2021 season, including back-to-back double-digit victory campaigns.
