Promising Wide Receiver Returning To FSU Football In 2024

There's a ton of potential among Florida State's wide receivers despite Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman transitioning to the NFL.

Florida State lost its top two wide receivers following the 2023 season as Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman make their transition to the NFL. While a ton of production is going out the door, there is still a lot of potential for the unit to be a strength for the Seminoles moving forward.

The promise of young players such as sophomore Hykeem Williams, sophomore Destyn Hill, and sophomore Vandrevius Jacobs lends to the possibility of a bright future in Tallahassee.

On Friday, Jacobs became the latest Seminole to announce his return to the program in 2024 through a release with The Battle's End. He has the skill set to be a star in garnet and gold if he can continue to grow. Jacobs appeared in five games during his first year at Florida State, recording three catches for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Jacobs caught a touchdown pass in the home opener against Southern Miss. He made a 19-yard reception in the third of the win over Pittsburgh on a drive that ended in a touchdown. Jacobs also had a season-long 28-yard gain in the home finale against North Alabama.

The Florida native signed with the Seminoles as a four-star prospect in the 2023 class. He finished second in the state in receiving yards during his senior season at Vero Beach High School. Jacobs enrolled at FSU in the spring and instantly caught eyes while impressing over the offseason.

Jacobs is expected to compete for a starting role this spring among a group of wide receivers that includes redshirt senior Darion Williamson, redshirt senior Kentron Poitier, redshirt senior Deuce Spann, senior Malik Benson, sophomore Hykeem Williams, sophomore Destyn Hill, redshirt freshman Jalen Brown, true freshman Elijah Moore, true freshman Camdon Frier, true freshman BJ Gibson, and true freshman Lawayne McCoy.

Outside of Cypress II, running back Lawrance Toafili, running back Caziah Holmes, wide receiver Darion Williamson, wide receiver Kentron Poitier, wide receiver Destyn Hill, offensive lineman Robert Scott, offensive lineman Darius Washington, offensive lineman Maurice Smith, offensive lineman Keiondre Jones, offensive lineman Jeremiah Byers, defensive end Patrick Payton, defensive end Byron Turner Jr, defensive tackle Danie Lyons, defensive tackle KJ Sampson, linebacker Omar Graham Jr., cornerback Azareye'h Thomas, cornerback Fentrell Cypress II, cornerback Quindarrius Jones, cornerback Ja'Bril Rawls, safety Shyheim Brown, punter Alex Mastromanno, and kicker Ryan Fitzgerald have all announced they'll return to Florida State since December.
