FSU's Shyheim Brown Among PFF's Top Ten Returning ACC Safeties

Brown is one of the highest-graded returning safeties in the entire ACC.

Florida State is projected to have a successful season, as they've got a chance to win an ACC title and make a playoff appearance for the first time since 2014. They've got the returning offensive talent to do it, and if the Seminoles' defense plays as well as they're projected to, both of those possibilities may come true.

Defensive back Shyheim Brown has been with the Seminoles for two seasons now and is heading into an important third. He will be filling the shoes of Jammie Robinson, who made his way to the NFL with the Carolina Panthers.

PFF released their highest-graded returning safeties in the ACC, and Brown came in at sixth across the conference with a grade of 72.7.

Brown had a solid season last season with 36 total tackles, 19 of them being solo tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. With an improved role on the way, Brown is set to carry over that production to a full-time starter scale.

For reference, Robinson totaled 99 tackles, 46 solo tackles, a sack, an interception and five tackles for loss. Now, Brown will have the potential to make a similar impact defensively for the squad.

With the newfound role, he will have to not only lead the defense on the field but will have to take on a leadership role. As a redshirt sophomore, there's nothing but room for improvement on the field and in the locker room.

The former three-star recruit is in good company on the list by PFF. Miami's Kamren Kinchens and Georgia Tech's LaMiles Brooks - two potential first-round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

This season will be telling, and having a productive year while the Seminoles win plenty of big-time games will be huge for Brown's stock. He's got the potential to make big plays in primetime games to get his name on the national stage.
