FSU Football's Top 10 Running Back Room Headlined by Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili

The Seminoles are projected to have one of the top rushing attacks in the country.

As the offseason charges on and Florida State continues to prepare for its September 3 season opener against the LSU Tigers, the hype is bubbling up for what head coach Mike Norvell is brewing in Tallahassee for 2023.

"Like I said, taking it day by day, blocking out all the noise," Benson said during a press conference on Wednesday morning. "Two teams in the top 10, hey, it's going to be a showdown, but just taking it day by day, each game by each game, and we're just ready to go."

From future Heisman candidate signal caller Jordan Travis to future first-round draft pick DE Jared Verse, there is undoubtedly no shortage of talent across the Seminole depth chart as they gear up for fall camp and look ahead with championship aspirations. It is no secret that teams will again be on the head hunt for the garnet and gold, which comes just as nostalgic as it is comforting.

Fans can cheer the moniker of 'DBU' (and the new 'Transfer U'), but a stone that some might have left unturned is the success that running backs old and new have proved, taking their game to the next level.

Recently, Pro Football Focus' Max Chadwick released his Top-10 running back rooms heading into 2023, and Florida State checked in at No. 9.

Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, Oregon, Arkansas and Wisconsin also made the list.

Spearheaded by running back Trey Benson, who had the highest single-season missed tackle rate of any running back since 2014, the 'Noles will field a talented running back group heading into next season. Players like Benson, who nearly hit the millennium mark of 1,000 rushing yards last year, paired with backs like Lawrance Toafili (725 all-purpose yards, six TDs), freshman Rodney Hill (5.3 YPC, one TD), transfer Caziah Holmes (Penn State) and CJ Campbell (two TDs, 64-yards), will continue to contribute to one of the most potent offenses in the country.
