According to PFF's Trevor Sikkema, Florida State's Trey Benson is atop the rankings for running backs in the 2024 NFL Draft Class.

Benson transferred from Oregon to play with the Seminoles ahead of last season. From no playing time with the Ducks, Benson quickly earned the starting spot in Tallahassee.

With head coach Mike Norvell's aptitude with running backs, the addition of Benson made for an incredible first year together. He amassed 990 rushing yards in his first season, finding the end zone on nine occasions. Benson also had 13 receptions for an additional 144 yards in the passing game.

Nonetheless, the Seminoles' running back made a name for himself and is gaining respect ahead of the 2023 College Football Season.

Benson finished this past season with a 91.3 rushing grade and 0.51 missed tackles forced per attempt, according to PFF. With solid vision and patience, Benson has been able to excel in Norvell's run-heavy offensive system.

Michigan's tandem duo is high in the rankings as well, giving Benson competition for running backs in the next NFL Draft. Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards are both incredibly skilled running backs that are able to work together to find success under their system.

Wisconsin's Braelon Allen and Ohio State's Treveyon Henderson round out the best five running backs for the 2024 NFL Draft, according to PFF.

While Benson was unable to achieve the 1,000+ rushing yard season that he was aiming for last year, he has all the tools to build off such an incredible season and continue to improve. Assuming he takes another jump, he will be able to solidify his position to potentially be the first running back off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Though running backs aren't nearly as valued in the NFL Draft as other positions, Benson will be pushing for a top-40 selection in the draft, close to where former FSU legend Dalvin Cook was selected in 2017.
