"The approach has to be championship level and about being your best:" Head coach Mike Norvell, players talk first spring practice of 2023
It was a bright and sunny day at Doak Campbell Stadium as the Seminoles kicked off their first practice of the spring. Only in helmets and shorts, the intensity could still be seen by coaches and players alike. With cheers and screams, the team seemed ready to compete ahead of fall camp.
Head coach Mike Norvell addressed the media after practice, where he talked about incoming transfers, freshmen, and his overall view of the team as they kick into the next gear before spring break.

"There are guys that are going to play fast. It doesn't mean that they are always going to be right but playing with confidence and the things they know, obviously, when they get an opportunity to make plays, it's always good to see guys get out there and make plays and that happened today with quite a few newcomers."
With Tour of Duty over, it was a chance for the media to see the No. 16 recruiting class overall and the No. 3 class of transfers get on the practice fields and start building chemistry with the team.
"I'm proud of them (newcomers) for the work they put in trying to understand some of the concepts, whether it's in the meeting room or some of the extra work that they've done on their own." Norvell said, "You see a lot of the returners, they played pretty fast today, and they have the expectation of what we are doing. We are really trying to hone in on the finer details with those guys that have been here and really try to push the standard of our best."
Coach Norvell talks about leadership on the offensive line, team mindset, players switching positions and more in his interview below.
Outside of Norvell, three other players met with the media following day one.
Jordan Travis, Quarterback
Trey Benson, Running Back
Jared Verse, Defensive End
