The No. 4 Florida State Seminoles take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles to open the season at home during week two of what is expected to be a remarkable run under fourth-year FSU head coach Mike Norvell. 

Both teams are coming off victories on opening weekend with FSU taking down the LSU Tigers, 45-24, and the Golden Eagles tearing down Alcorn State, 40-14.

FSU quarterback Jordan Travis looks to build upon his 2023 Heisman run in week two after starting the season on full throttle, throwing for 342 yards and four touchdowns while adding an additional 38 and another score on the ground.

USM is in year three under head coach Mike Hall who has been in rebuild mode since taking over in 2020 and brought the program to their first bowl victory since 2016 a season ago.

The Golden Eagles have a talented running back in Frank Gore, Jr., who finished 2022 with 1,382 yards and nine rushing touchdowns.
