Mike Norvell, Florida State Look Ahead to Clemson: "I Think Our Guys Got The Message"

After a close win against Boston College, the Seminoles will be back on the road with a trip to Death Valley on the docket.

The No. 4 Florida State Seminoles are coming off a nail-biting 31-29 victory over Boston College last Saturday in which costly second-half mistakes nearly broke their eight-game winning streak dating back to a season ago.

"I think our guys got the message and now we need to go do something about it," head coach Mike Norvell said during his Monday morning press conference.

After a second-quarter scare that saw quarterback Jordan Travis go down with an injury, the 'Noles buckled down and staved off the Eagles' efforts to knock off the No. 3 team in the country.

Florida State now looks ahead to the Clemson Tigers who have won their last seven in the series dating back to 2015 but have also seen their fair share of struggles this year and are slight underdogs in the matchup.

"We're going to play our best game. That's what I want to see. I believe in this team. I believe in who I coach. I believe in the coaches that we have. So I'm excited about this week of preparation and really looking forward to them capitalizing on the moment."

A grudge match against the Tigers for ACC contention is the perfect test to conclude a tough September. The matchup will stress Florida State's depth and mindset.

"I thought they came back with a great edge in practice last night. I thought there was a great effort. It's never been about the work. I mean, these guys, they embrace the work. But there in the course of that game, I don't know that we always played with the edge that we're accustomed to."

The 2023 season is still in Florida State's hands and a hiccup at Boston College might've been just what they needed to keep the ship headed in the right direction.

Norvell goes in-depth over last week's performance and gives insight into the challenges while also previewing Clemson in his full interview below.
