Mike Norvell, FSU Offer Talented Alabama Football Running Back Transfer

The Seminoles have offered an experienced transfer from Alabama.

Florida State is utilizing the NCAA Transfer Portal to address positions across its roster that need an upgrade in talent or experience this offseason. The Seminoles are pursuing transfers on both sides of the ball as the program looks to make a push for another ACC Championship.

On Friday evening, Alabama running back transfer Roydell Williams announced on social media that he had picked up an offer from Florida State. The graduate transfer has one season of eligibility remaining after signing with the Crimson Tide as a top-150 recruit in the 2020 class.

Williams spent most of his time with the program as a backup before playing second fiddle to Jase McClellan in 2023. He ended up recording a career-high 111 carries for 560 yards with five touchdowns on the ground while catching 11 passes for 58 yards and another score. Williams scored three touchdowns in his final four appearances of the season while rushing 16 times for 64 yards and a score in Alabama's SEC Championship game victory against Georgia.

The offer from the Seminoles is the first that Williams has publicly revealed since entering the portal on Friday.

During his career at Alabama, Williams appeared in 45 games while rushing 234 times for 1,165 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also caught 21 passes for 152 yards and two more scores. Williams recorded more rushing attempts this past season than the two previous years combined. He won a National Championship with the Crimson Tide during his first season with the program.

The backfield is an area where Florida State could use another body with Trey Benson (NFL), Rodney Hill (transfer), and CJ Campbell (transfer) all moving on for various reasons. Outside of Lawrance Toafili and Caziah Holmes, the Seminoles currently only have redshirt freshman Samuel Singleton, true freshman Kam Davis, and true freshman Micahi Danzy on scholarship.
