Mike Norvell Provides Injury Updates On Multiple Florida State Starters
Football is a physical sport and players are bound to get banged up throughout the season. That's simply the reality as programs try to limit the number of injuries across their respective rosters.

Florida State has remained relatively healthy throughout the first two weeks of the season. With that being said, there were multiple starters unavailable to suit up against Southern Miss and a couple of other players went down during the course of the game.
Prior to kickoff on Saturday, starting left tackle Robert Scott and starting center Maurice Smith as well as redshirt junior wide receiver Kentron Poitier were noted as unavailable. Smith was spotted with a boot on his foot while Scott wasn't observed with the team at all.
Early in the second quarter, redshirt senior safety Akeem Dent went down with what appeared to be a hamstring injury. He headed to the locker room before rejoining the team in street clothes for the second half with a wrap around his knee.
Redshirt junior wide receiver Johnny Wilson struggled on Saturday night, failing to make a catch while being plagued by drops. He also was wearing street clothes on the sideline throughout the final two quarters of Florida State's victory.
On Monday morning, head coach Mike Norvell provided an injury update on Scott, Smith, Poitier, Dent, and Wilson. Norvell says they'll be tracking all five players throughout the week as the team prepares for its ACC Opener.
"We'll track how everything goes this week. We got a couple guys that missed the game. Rob [Scott] and Maurice [Smith] there on the offensive line, we'll see where that goes this week," Norvell said on Monday. "Obviously, Akeem [Dent] went down in the game, was not able to return. Johnny [Wilson] went down, was not able to return. We'll see how they progress, I thought they came in well last night as we were able to start getting treatment and things like that. I'll give you probably a better sense of it as the week progresses."
"Hopeful we will get Tron back here soon," Norvell had noted previously during his availability.
It's possible that the Seminoles were just being extra cautious against the Golden Eagles due to playing an overmatched opponent. After all, Florida State was able to get 102 players into the game during the course of the 66-13 victory.
Regardless, it will be imperative for the team to get as healthy as possible for the next two weeks. The Seminoles are tasked with back-to-back road games at Boston College and at Clemson prior to getting a week off to recover.
Florida State is scheduled to face off with the Eagles on Saturday at noon. The game will be televised on ABC.
