Mike Norvell Provides Injury Updates On Multiple Members Of Florida State's Two Deep

The Seminoles are confident that at least a pair of veterans will be back in the lineup this weekend.

Through the first six games of the 2023 season, Florida State is relatively healthy while holding on to a 6-0 record. With that being said, there are a couple of veterans across the roster dealing with different injuries but the Seminoles are hopeful to get at least two members of the two deep back in the lineup this weekend.

While opening up the week with his normal press conference on Monday morning, head coach Mike Norvell provided some positive news for FSU fans.

After going down in the third quarter against Virginia Tech and not suiting up this past weekend, star wide receiver Johnny Wilson is making progress toward a return. He was able to take reps during Florida State's practice on Sunday.

"I feel very good about Johnny," Norvell said. "He progressed really well over the weekend, was able to get reps in the practice. Planning on having him rolling here throughout the week."

Redshirt junior Bless Harris was fully dressed out against Syracuse after missing the previous game due to an injury. However, Harris didn't end up playing a snap, an aspect that Norvell mentions that should change when the team takes the field on Saturday night.

"We get Bless back this week. He's going to be ready to go, he was very close last week. I think if it was an absolute emergency he probably could've went in but we'll have him back this week," Norvell said. "I think that's going to continue to help us but he practiced towards the end of the week. We're excited about how those combinations are coming together."

The offensive line has been ever-changing with various players across the unit dealing with injuries. Maurice Smith and Robert Scott were banged up earlier this year and the versatile Darius Washington pitched in with contributions at center and left tackle. Washington went down during the course of the victory over Syracuse as he was spotted in street clothes with a brace on his leg.

It sounds like Washington will have a few hurdles to jump through as he works to be available this weekend.

"Darius went out in the game and we'll see where that goes this week. I think he'll have a good chance but obviously, it's all part of things," Norvell said. "Having that depth allows for a lot of different combinations and our guys embrace that and do a good job with it."

In continued good news for the Seminoles, Norvell provided a brief update on starting quarterback Jordan Travis. Late in the second quarter, Travis was hit from his blindside and left the field prior to halftime while favoring his non-throwing arm or hand. He returned for the second half and finished the game 23/37 passing for 284 yards with one touchdown pass while rushing for two more scores on the ground.

"He's good coming into this week," Norvell said.

Florida State returns to action on Saturday in a conference matchup against Duke at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
