Philadephia Eagles Bring In Two Former Florida State Standouts To Boost Defensive Line
The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to make another run in 2023 after finishing as the Super Bowl Runner-Up last year. Following the team's second preseason game, the Eagles made a variety of moves that included the additions of two former Florida State standouts along the defensive line.

On Saturday, the Eagles announced that they were signing defensive tackle Robert Cooper and defensive tackle Marvin Wilson. Both players were on the free-agent market prior to joining Philadelphia and now will be looking to provide a boost along the interior.
This is the second team that Cooper has joined since going undrafted in April. He inked an undrafted free agent deal with the Seattle Seahawks but was released shortly after Rookie Mini-Camp. The Seahawks brought him back in earlier in training camp only to cut Cooper less than a week later.
The Georgia native spent five years at Florida State, concluding his college career as a back-to-back All-ACC honorable mention. Cooper totaled 132 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three pass deflections, and a fumble recovery in 57 appearances, with 41 starts during his time with the Seminoles. Cooper was honored with FSU's Bobby Bowden Leadership Award following the 2022 season.
Wilson went undrafted in 2021 and originally joined the Cleveland Browns. However, he was released late in training camp and signed with Philadelphia as a member of the practice squad. Wilson made his NFL debut on January 8, 2022, in a loss against the Dallas Cowboys, recording three total tackles.
The Eagles retained him on the practice squad this past season. Wilson recorded four tackles in his lone appearance in 2022-23 as Philadelphia defeated Houston in Week 9. He was waived during the 2023 NFL Draft and went through a workout with the Miami Dolphins earlier in August.
The Texas native signed with Florida State as the No. 1 defensive tackle in the 2017 class, spending four years in Tallahassee under three different head coaches (Jimbo Fisher, Willie Taggart, Mike Norvell). He was named First-Team All-ACC in 2019 and Second-Team All-ACC in 2020. Wilson totaled 109 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and five pass deflections with the Seminoles.
Philadelphia is up to ten defensive tackles under contract so the two former Seminoles will have their work cut out for them to make the final roster or practice squad.
