The Florida State football season comes to a close on Dec. 30 as the Seminoles take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl. Nowadays, however, bowl games have a bit of a different feel as players often opt out to jump in the transfer portal or prepare for the NFL Draft.

While this has impacted the Seminoles ahead of the bowl game, it's also impacted the Bulldogs, who saw former five-star and Florida State legacy Marvin Jones Jr. hit the transfer portal on Wednesday night. Not only did he enter the portal, but he's now expected to take a visit to Tallahassee this weekend, according to 247Sports

Jones Jr. wasn't able to climb the depth chart in his two years with Georgia given their high-end talent at the EDGE position as well as injuries that set him back. Now, the Seminoles are pursuing the legacy rusher after coming up short in his high school recruitment.

Former Florida State Running Back Returning To ACC, Will Face Seminoles In 2024

Marvin Jones, the father of Jones Jr., was a linebacker at Florida State. Jones Sr. had a legendary college career and was inducted into the FSU Hall of Fame in 2000 while being a top-four pick in the 1993 NFL Draft.

Jones Jr. has the potential to join the program as a transfer and make a similar impact as the former five-star has the opportunity to climb the depth chart quickly. Coming off an ACC Championship, the Seminoles seem to have made their way back to the top of the conference and college football once again.

With Jared Verse headed off to the pro level -- and a weird situation with Patrick Payton underway -- the team could really use someone with the talent of a prospect like Jones Jr. Landing Jones Jr. would just be another addition to the list of incredible pass-rushers the Seminoles have landed in the transfer portal -- something Mike Norvell has done a phenomenal job of since leading the program as the head coach.

In two seasons with the Bulldogs, Jones Jr. tallied 16 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.
