Report: Florida State to be Without Two Starters Against Clemson

The Seminoles are reported to be without one starter on each side of the ball.

Florida State is only a couple of hours away from kicking off its second straight road game. The Seminoles will conclude their September slate with a battle against the Clemson Tigers in Death Valley.

Leading up to the beginning of the contest, there has been plenty of speculation regarding how healthy FSU is coming into the game. The Seminoles have been without multiple starters and members of the two deep during the past two games.

That will continue into Saturday afternoon for at least two starters on Florida State's roster. According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, the Seminoles are expected to be shorthanded against Clemson as left tackle Robert Scott and veteran safety Akeem Dent will remain out of the lineup.

In what may be good news for the 'Noles, starting center Maurice Smith is expected to start the game. Smith hasn't suited up since the season opener against LSU and his presence would allow the versatile Darius Washington to move across the offensive line at will. Bless Harris will likely continue to man Jordan Travis' blindside.

Dent was listed as a co-starter with Kevin Knowles on the depth chart to open up Clemson week. He was originally injured during the first half of the home opener against Southern Miss and didn't travel with the team last week. It wouldn't be a surprise to see true freshman Conrad Hussey continue to earn more playing time.

Outside of the players mentioned above, the Seminoles missed wide receiver Kentron Poitier, wide receiver Ja'Khi Douglas, cornerback Quindarrius Jones, safety KJ Kirkland, and defensive end Byron Turner Jr. last week. Linebacker Tatum Bethune and tight end Jaheim Bell went down during the course of the game.

Florida State and Clemson are scheduled to kick off at 12:00 p.m. on ABC.
