Report: FSU Football Quarterback Jordan Travis Did Not Throw At Manning Passing Academy

The Florida State star didn't work out at the Manning Passing Academy on Friday night.

45 of the top quarterbacks in the country flocked to Louisiana this weekend for the annual Manning Passing Academy to serve as camp counselors. It's an honor to be invited to the multi-day event that is hosted by one of the most famous football families of all time - Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Cooper Manning, and Archie Manning.

From Thursday to Sunday, the college quarterbacks in attendance will serve as mentors while participating in practices, film sessions, and lectures for the campers. They also got an opportunity to showcase their respective talents in front of those at the camp while competing against their fellow peers.

On Friday night, the players went through a series of different drills, including the Riddell Air-It-Out challenge, Nike QB Challenge, and Cane's Long Shot inside Guidry Stadium at Nicholls State University.

Following the workout, a number of quarterbacks were recognized for their performances including Tennessee's Joe Milton, Washington's Michael Penix Jr., North Carolina's Drake Maye, Kentucky's Devin Leary, LSU's Jayden Daniels and Grant Nussmeier, Duke's Riley Leonard, and Tulane's Michael Pratt, among others.

One name was ostensibly missing from the list in Florida State star Jordan Travis, who is expected to make a run at the Heisman Trophy in 2023. According to On3, Travis was among three quarterbacks that did not compete (Texas' Arch Manning, Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart) during the Friday Night Lights competition.

"Three top quarterbacks on this year’s list did not compete on Friday night at the skills challenge in Texas freshman Arch Manning, Florida State starter Jordan Travis and Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. Manning is in attendance as a counselor, while Travis was not made available for Friday’s media session and didn’t take part in the throwing competitions."

Travis isn't known to be dealing with an injury at this time. He was a full participant during Florida State's set of spring practices and completed 8/13 passes for 88 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception during the Spring Showcase.

More recently, he hosted a Youth Camp in Tallahassee at North Florida Christian School alongside Trey Benson earlier in June. Later that day, he returned to Doak Campbell Stadium to work with prospects and show a presence at Florida State's Elite Camp.

Travis was also spotted working out in the Seminoles' weight room within the last few days, per a post on FSU Football's Instagram.

The Florida native is coming off a breakout 2022 campaign where he completed a career-high 226/353 passes (64%) for 3,214 yards with 24 touchdowns to five interceptions. He also rushed 82 times for 417 yards and seven more scores while catching one touchdown through the air.

Travis started in all 13 games for the Seminoles which was crucial after he missed three games from 2020-21 while dealing with various injuries. He was knocked out of Florida State's 35-31 comeback victory at Louisville last September but returned to start the following weekend against Boston College.

During his college career, Travis has accumulated 7,733 yards of total offense and 80 total touchdowns. You can follow his Heisman campaign HERE.
