Rob Gronkowski Believes It Was A "Business Move" To Keep FSU Out Of College Football Playoff

NFL legend Rob Gronkowski believes the College Football Playoff Committee used Jordan Travis' injury as a way to keep the Seminoles out of the field.

The College Football Playoff format with a committee voting in four teams to play for a National Championship has been around since 2014, but hasn't seen a situation like it did this season. Despite going 13-0 and defeating Louisville in the ACC Championship, the Florida State Seminoles were left out of the playoffs. NFL legend Rob Gronkowski agrees with the committee's decision to leave the Seminoles out of the playoffs.

Instead, the committee put in two one-loss teams over Florida State. Both Texas and Alabama got a bid over the Seminoles. This is seen to have been the move to make the most competitive playing field for the four teams as possible.

Since being snubbed, the Seminoles have dominated the news cycle. Every news outlet, media personality, and plenty of former and active football players have spoken out on the situation. One of the most recent cases was Gronkowski, who doubled down on the committee leaving Florida State out of the playoffs.

"That’s a very, very tough situation," Gronkowski told Fox News. "Florida State was well deserved, there’s no doubt about it. I would say football, and college football, is a business. Having Alabama go into the College Football Playoffs over Florida State was a business move. I do think Alabama was well deserved, too."

Texas and Alabama both had huge conference championship wins to help propel them right back into the playoff conversation. Still, Texas defeated Alabama earlier in the season, meaning the decision came down to Florida State and Alabama. 

Alabama's win over No. 1 Georgia clearly held plenty of weight and was enough to propel them over Florida State. 

"SEC is by far the best conference in football – you can’t argue with that. Imagine there’s no SEC team in the final four of the College Football Playoff. That would be really weird," Gronkowski continued. "On top of it, I feel like the committee had an excuse as well, saying they don’t have a quarterback. So that was kind of their excuse to get out of it. You know what I mean?"

Having a better strength of schedule and a marquee win right before the final playoff rankings were released obviously helped Alabama, but it can't be overstated that the Seminoles were 13-0 and Power Five conference champions. Evidently, they took care of business and are right in being upset and outraged after being snubbed.
