Seminoles Lose Starting Offensive Lineman To Lower-Body Injury Against Syracuse

At least one starter was injured and will not be able to return for the rest of the game against the Orange.

Florida State is engaged in an ACC battle against the Syracuse Orange in Tallahassee. It hasn't been a perfect game but the Seminoles still find themselves holding on to a 27-3 advantage at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

The offense has struggled to finish drives throughout the contest as Florida State was held scoreless on its final two possessions of the first half. That included back-to-back failed fourth-down conversions on the Orange's side of the field in the second quarter.

The Seminoles have also had a couple of players get banged up in the game, notably starting quarterback Jordan Travis, who appeared to suffer a left hand or arm injury but remains in the lineup. Outside of that, Florida State has had at least one other starter go down who will be unable to return for the remainder of the contest.

During the third quarter, NoleGameday spotted redshirt junior Darius Washington on the sideline in street clothes with a brace on his left knee. We didn't see the exact play where Washington was injured but believe it occurred late in the second quarter. Regardless, it's probably a good sign that he feels healthy enough to continue walking around and supporting his teammates.

Washington was replaced in the lineup by redshirt junior Robert Scott, who is continuing to work his way back following a lower-body injury that limited him throughout the offseason. Scott has been limited throughout the season and his snaps against Virginia Tech were the first time he's played for Florida State since the opening win over LSU.

Throughout the first half of the season, Washington has been a key piece on Florida State's offense. He started at center against Southern Miss and Boston College with Maurice Smith out of the lineup. Washington has manned the left tackle spot in each of the last two weeks and was named the ACC's Offensive Lineman of the Week in the victory over Virginia Tech.

NoleGameday will continue to provide updates when necessary.
