Wide Receiver Departs FSU Football For Transfer Portal Prior To Window Closing

The Seminoles see a young wide receiver depart from the program just before the NCAA Transfer Portal window closes.

There are just a few hours remaining until the NCAA Transfer Portal closes for players from Florida State. The 30-day window concluded on January 2 for the majority of the country but since the Seminoles played in the Orange Bowl so late in December, members of the roster have until 11:59 p.m. on January 4 to declare their intentions to move on.

On Thursday evening, redshirt freshman wide receiver Goldie Lawrence entered the portal after one season in Tallahassee. He made his lone appearance in the home opener against Southern Miss, earning five snaps and recording no stats. Lawrence spent most of the season contributing to the scout team.

The Florida native signed with Florida State as a three-star prospect in the 2023 class alongside five-star Hykeem Williams and four-star Vandrevius Jacobs. He caught 92 passes for 1,495 yards with 21 touchdowns and added 139 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground during his prep career at Seminole High School.

The Seminoles are pursuing multiple wide receiver transfers in the portal and are expected to return a lot of talent on the roster such as redshirt senior Kentron Poitier, redshirt senior Darion Williamson, redshirt senior Ja'Khi Douglas, sophomore Hykeem Williams, sophomore Destyn Hill, and sophomore Vandrevius Jacobs.

Outside of Lawrence, the Seminoles have seen quarterback Tate Rodemaker, quarterback AJ Duffy (San Diego State), Rodney Hill, running back CJ Campbell (FAU), tight end Markeston Douglas (Arizona State), tight end Preston Daniel, offensive lineman Bless Harris (TCU), offensive lineman Thomas Schrader, offensive lineman Daughtry Richardson (FAU), offensive lineman Qae'shon Sapp, defensive end Gilber Edmond, defensive tackle Malcolm Ray, defensive tackle Ayobami Tifase (Georgia Tech), linebacker DJ Lundy (Colorado), linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner, and kicker Tyler Keltner enter the portal since the conclusion of the regular season and ACC Championship.
