12 Former FSU Football Stars Accept Invitations To 2024 NFL Combine
There are less than two weeks remaining until the 2024 NFL Combine begins in Indianapolis. Ahead of the action, the league announced that a total of 321 prospects have been invited to participate in the prestigious event - which will span from February 12 through March 4.
After only sending one former player to the combine in each of the last two years, a large contingent of Seminole standouts will be in attendance. In total, 12 former Florida State stars are expected to take part in the event in various fashions. The list includes defensive end Jared Verse, wide receiver Keon Coleman, defensive tackle Braden Fiske, wide receiver Johnny Wilson, running back Trey Benson, tight end Jaheim Bell, cornerback Jarrian Jones, quarterback Jordan Travis, cornerback Renardo Green, defensive tackle Fabien Lovett, linebacker Kalen DeLoach, and linebacker Tatum Bethune.
FSU ranks No. 3 overall behind Michigan and Washington and is one of six programs to send 10+ players to the combine.
Verse and Coleman are earning first-round buzz after productive campaigns in Tallahassee this past season. Both players were named First-Team All-ACC with Coleman earning all-conference honors at three different positions. A solid showing at the combine in drills and interviews could solidify their draft position.
Outside of that, Fiske, Wilson, Bell, Jones, Travis, Green, Lovett, and DeLoach have all participated in all-star games to boost their stock. Fiske is quickly rising into a top-100 pick while Wilson, Bell, and Jones could all go off the board relatively early in April. The combine will be an opportunity to set themselves apart from other players in their draft range.
Travis, Green, Lovett, and DeLoach could all be selected as well. Travis is still recovering from a leg injury that ended his final season at Florida State but is hoping to be close to 100% by May.
Benson is also expected to be one of the top players at his position in the draft. Like Verse and Coleman, he's been focused on training for the combine and pro day to show off his athleticism and strength.
Bethune is in the process of recovering from a procedure that he elected to undergo prior to the bowl game. The injury kept him from participating in the final college game of his career against Georgia.
The Seminoles have only produced six draft picks since head coach Mike Norvell arrived in Tallahassee. That should change in a big way when the action kicks off on April 25.
