Former FSU Star Scottie Barnes Out For Season
Former Florida State star Scottie Barnes will be out indefinitely with a fracture in his left hand, per the Toronto Raptors. He got hurt with 1:56 remaining in the first half and was ruled out for the game. The Raptors were beating the Golden State Warriors 57-55 when Barnes left the game, before being outscored 65-48 for the rest of the game.
The third metacarpal is the bone attached to the middle finger. Because it's not his shooting hand, there's possibly a chance Barnes could be back in time for the playoff chase if the Raptors are still in the picture. As of Friday night, the Raptors are 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 22-38 record, 3.5 games back of the Atlanta Hawks for the final Play-In spot.
Scottie Barnes had just appeared in his first NBA All-Star game a few weeks ago, where he put up some solid numbers. Even in just 16 minutes in this game against the Warriors, he had 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. This has very easily been the best season of his young career and the Raptors are hoping this won't do anything to stunt his development as a player.
Below is a video of when the injury occurred. It's hard to tell exactly what happened, but it looks like Barnes was accidentally kicked by his teammate Immanuel Quickley. Barnes knew in the air that something happened and you could tell by his reaction leaving the floor that it was something serious.
