Miami Dolphins Make Offer to Former FSU Star Dalvin Cook During Free Agency

After entering free agency in June, multiple teams are after the talented running back.

Only a few weeks have passed since the Minnesota Vikings released four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook after being unable to make a trade heading into the 2023 season. The top brass in Minnesota appeared to be in a roster shake-up while managing their salary cap, turning to backup running back Alexander Mattison to lead the charge. The move made sense since Cook was set to make $10.4 Million, leaving them dangerously close to the cap, and the Vikings expect to pay Mattison a fraction of that.

Following his release, numerous teams have shown interest in acquiring the talented back, including the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins, and according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, an offer rests on the table from the leadership in Miami Gardens.

While the details of the offer remain publically unknown, according to the report, Florida State's all-time leading rusher may be holding out while the negotiation process runs its course. At the same time, other teams have reportedly laid out additional offers for Cook.

During his free agency, Cook generated headlines with speculation about his next destination. In a recent Instagram post from inside Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, Cook hinted at his potential move before his release from the Vikings.

Regardless of where he lands after free agency, Cook has emphasized his readiness to return and return to his Florida State roots and further showcase his game.

“Now it’s over. Now I can be Dalvin Cook, back to Florida State Dalvin Cook, and just turn it loose."

Whichever team acquires him will be getting a star player. Cook has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the past four seasons. He will join former Seminole cornerback Jalen Ramsey as the Dolphins look to become a top contender in the AFC.
