Seven Former FSU Football Stars to Participate in 2024 NFL Playoffs

As the 2024 NFL Playoffs kick off, seven former Noles will be competing for a Super Bowl appearance.

The NFL Super Wildcard Weekend is set to kick off on January 13 when the Houston Texans face off against the Cleveland Browns. But before the big game kicks off in February, multiple former Florida State stars will compete in the playoffs as teams vie for a Super Bowl LVIII spot. Six will start the playoff bracket, with another being listed as an inactive reserve.

Baltimore Ravens Running Back Dalvin Cook

After signing with the New York Jets as a free agent in the offseason, Dalvin Cook spent most of the year in New Jersey. He was let out of his contract and was quickly picked up by Baltimore before the playoffs. He had 67 carries for 214 yards behind Jets running back Bryce Hall. Overall, the 4x Pro-Bowler has a career of 6,207 rushing yards and 47 touchdowns, adding 1,872 receiving yards and five touchdown receptions.

Baltimore Ravens Defensive Back Ronald Darby

Darby was a part of the 13-4 Ravens squad, totaling 28 tackles and seven passes defended. His career dates back to 2015, when he was drafted in the second round by the Buffalo Bills. He has 401 career tackles, eight interceptions, a forced fumble and recovery, and 97 passes defended, according to ESPN.com. At Florida State, he helped the Seminoles go 14-0 in their 2013 BCS National Championship run. As first in the AFC, the Ravens will play the winner of the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins.

Minnesota Rams Linebacker Keir Thomas

Keir Thomas is wrapping up his second season in the NFL after totaling ten career tackles. The Rams are set to face the Detroit Lions this weekend, and the winner will play the San Fransico 49ers, who currently sit at No. 1 in the NFC. Thomas started all 12 games and made 42 tackles, 12 for a loss, 6.5 sacks, and 15 quarterback hurries for the Seminoles during his lone 2021 season in Tallahassee.

Philidelphia Eagles Defensive Lineman Josh Sweat

After spending six seasons in the NFL, Sweat has amassed 35 sacks, 196 tackles, seven forced fumbles, and a pick-six. The Eagles are set to play Tampa Bay, which is No. 4 in the NFC on Monday, in the first round of the playoffs.

Philidelphia Eagles Offensive Lineman Roderick Johnson

*Johnson is currently listed on the Eagles injured reserve list.

Miami Dolphins Defensive Back Jalen Ramsey

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey suffered what was thought to be a season-ending injury early on in Dolphins training camp. Still, he made a remarkable recovery to finish the latter half of the regular season. During ten games for the Dolphins in 2023, the seven-time Pro Bowler, Super Bowl, and BCS National Champion had 22 tackles and three interceptions. The Dolphins are set to play the Chiefs on Saturday.

Cleveland Browns Kicker Dustin Hopkins

The Browns have made the playoffs for the second time in 20 seasons and are set to face the Houston Texans in the first playoff bracket. Although Hopkins is ruled out for the game due to a hamstring injury, he has had a long-standing career in the NFL, spanning multiple franchises after being drafted in 2013. In 2023, he made 91.7 percent of his field goal attempts with a season-long of 58 yards. He's tied for 12th in the country with 123 points on the year.
